History of Festival

Prince Edward Island's first Potato Blossom Festival was celebrated in 1968 and the Community of O'Leary has been honouring the Island's most valued cash crop ever since!  This year will be an exciting one as it is the 51st anniversary of the festival. Save the dates today because you won't want to miss out on this fun-filled celebration!  
The festival takes place each year in July to mark the time when the potato plants fill the fields in full blossom. The festival has many events each year, some the same, some new:

The 2019 schedule of events are ready for you to check out all the great festivities we have for the 2019 PEI POTATO FESTIVAL .

The 2019 Canadian Potato Peeling Contest held Saturday at the O'Leary Community Sports Centre in conjunction with the PEI Potato Blossom Festival was won by "TEAM  A-PEELING" members from left-Dr. Herb Dickieson, Tammy Rix, Tammy Gallant and Della Sweet

The winners awards at the PEI Potato Blossom Farmer's Awards Banquet held Friday night at the O'Leary Community Sports were from left- 2019 PEI Potato Producer of the Year-West Country Farms-owners- Barry, Sherwin and John Phillips; 2019 PEI Potato Ambassador sponsored by Evangeline-Central Credit Union Ltd. and W.P. Griffin Ltd.-Brittany Peters;  Kent Phillips Memorial Future Farmer Award- Carson Adams; Plaque of Congratulations on winning the first annual Cavendish Farms Growing Green Award-SPUD Ltd.-owner Bruce Adams, and the 2019 Hired Hand Award to Wendy Harris

The winners of the PEI Mutual Insurance Youth Talent Contest held recently in conjunction with the PEI Potato Blossom Festival at the O'Leary Community Sports Centre were:First place-Chloe Gallant; Second Place- Callie Thomson; Third Place- Lateshia Gallant

The crowning of the 2019 Little Miss Blossom took place at the O'Leary Community Sports Centre during the PEI Potato Blossom Festival. Standing back row left-Bria Boulter-2nd runner up, Miss 2018 Little Miss Blossom-Zoey Smallman, crowing 2019 Little Miss Blossom-Mary Ann Gard and first runner up-Payton Gallant
